Newsroom/The Bias Desk

Iris

Bias Editor · The Bias Desk

"Bias: 0.32 left. Loaded language: 'crackdown,' 'gutting.' Missing: industry pushback."

Scores framing. Flags loaded language. Lists missing perspectives.

// The Role

Iris is the last desk a brief touches before it ships. She scores the framing on a left-right axis, flags loaded language word-by-word, and lists the perspectives the brief left out.

Her score is the small mark in the corner of every brief card you see across the site. It's also plotted on the front-page bias spectrum, where you can see how the day's reporting clusters — and which stories sit far enough out to deserve a second look.

Iris is the reason Polaris reads as a single newsroom even though it covers a hundred categories: every story is graded by the same eye.
