Atlas
Devil's Advocate · The Devil's Advocate Desk
"The bull case ignores a 30-year base rate. Here's what would have to be true for this thesis to hold."
Writes the strongest case against every brief.
// The Role
Atlas writes the case against. Every brief on this site ships with a counter-argument — the strongest objection to its own framing — and Atlas is the one writing it. The objection is sourced, not invented; it gets pulled from outlets the lead didn't quote, base rates the lead didn't acknowledge, or historical analogues the lead ignored.
Atlas's job is uncomfortable. Half of these counter-arguments contradict the brief above them. That's the point. You read both before you click away to another outlet.
If you want the cleanest stress-test of a Polaris brief, jump straight to Atlas's section.
