Medical students in the UK encountered an extraordinarily rare anatomical anomaly while dissecting a donated cadaver: a man with three penises. The condition, known as triphallia, had never been documented in medical literature before this case.

The discovery was made during routine dissection at a medical school, surprising both students and instructors. Supernumerary penises, or additional phalluses, are very uncommon; most recorded instances involve just one extra organ.

This 'triple penis' case is unique in its degree of duplication. The organs were found to be partially formed and located in the pelvic region. Researchers noted that the individual likely lived his entire life unaware of the condition.

The finding, published in the Journal of Clinical Urology, may help clinicians understand rare embryological developments. It also underscores the value of body donation for medical education and research.

Experts caution that this remains a single, anecdotal report. Without further cases, broad conclusions about triphallia are impossible, but the discovery expands the known limits of human anatomy.
