Vast Space's Haven-1 commercial space station is advancing through development milestones on schedule for a first-quarter 2027 launch. The company confirmed the timeline in a recent update, with multiple technical and integration hurdles now cleared.

Haven-1 is designed as a single-module station capable of hosting up to four crew members for missions lasting up to 30 days. It will feature living quarters, research facilities, and a communications array for continuous Earth link. The spacecraft's propulsion system and life support modules have already passed ground qualification tests.

The station's launch window remains set for early 2027, with final assembly and environmental testing ongoing. Vast has not disclosed the launch provider, but past filings have indicated compatibility with SpaceX's Falcon 9 and other heavy-lift vehicles.

Haven-1 represents Vast's first step toward a larger, multi-module station planned for the late 2020s. It positions the company as a direct competitor to Axiom Space and others vying for the NASA Commercial LEO Destinations program contracts. Unlike some rivals, Vast is pursuing a leaner, faster-to-orbit approach with a single-module design.

Industry observers note that Vast's aggressive timeline hinges on limited public information about integration and funding. Critics caution that early-stage milestones do not guarantee a 2027 launch, especially for a startup with no prior orbital projects.
