Pet technology company Fi launched a dog tracker on July 8 that stays connected across the United States via T-Mobile’s Starlink-enabled T-Satellite service.
The device leverages direct-to-cell satellite capability, allowing it to function even when a pet wanders outside T-Mobile’s terrestrial network coverage area.
Fi’s tracker enters a growing market for satellite-connected pet wearables, where reliable out-of-range tracking has been a key pain point for owners of roaming dogs.
This partnership underscores T-Mobile’s push to extend its Starlink-backed satellite service beyond standard mobile phones into Internet of Things applications.
Longer term, the tracker could pressure competitors to also adopt satellite links, while raising questions about subscription costs and battery life for continuous satellite monitoring.
