Cameron Nicholas Curry, operating under the alias "Loot," has been found guilty of conducting an insider ransomware attack against a Washington D.C.-based technology company where he worked as a contractor. The attack occurred as his six-month contract position was nearing its end.
The insider threat resulted in $2.5 million in ransom payments according to court findings. Curry exploited his authorized access to steal a substantial trove of corporate data from his employer before his contract termination.
