Swissto12, a Switzerland-based small geostationary satellite specialist, has secured a contract to build the first optical relay spacecraft for Space Compass using its HummingSat platform. The mission represents a significant step in miniaturizing geostationary satellite technology for optical communications.

The spacecraft will be built on Swissto12's HummingSat platform, which is approximately the size of a washing machine. This compact design marks a departure from traditional large geostationary satellites, potentially reducing launch costs and development timelines for optical relay missions.
