The Federal Communications Commission has updated its Covered List to ban all consumer routers produced outside the United States from being imported into the country. The agency cited what it called an "unacceptable risk" to national security as the basis for the sweeping restriction.

The ban affects all foreign-manufactured consumer routers, with manufacturers required to obtain specific exemptions from the FCC to continue importing their products. The restriction applies to new router models being sold in the U.S. market.
