Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi warned Thursday that Iran would show "zero restraint" if its energy infrastructure faces future attacks. The warning followed Israel's strike on Iran's South Pars gasfield, which Iran shares with Qatar, prompting Iranian retaliatory attacks on energy facilities across the Gulf region.

The escalating conflict has targeted critical energy infrastructure on both sides. Iran struck an oil refinery in Haifa, Israel, though Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen reported "no significant damage." Iran also launched retaliatory strikes on Qatar's Ras Laffan gas complex and facilities in other Gulf neighbors.

Qatar revealed that almost a fifth of its liquefied natural gas export capacity was knocked out in the Iranian strike, an impact expected to last years. The attacks on energy infrastructure have sent global stock markets tumbling and triggered sharp increases in gas prices worldwide.

The targeting of energy facilities marks a dangerous escalation in the regional conflict, threatening global energy security and economic stability. The attacks have demonstrated the vulnerability of critical energy infrastructure in the Gulf region, which supplies a significant portion of the world's oil and gas exports.
