The U.S. Army is planning additional budget line consolidation for command and control (C2) systems in fiscal year 2027, building on congressional approval for similar measures in the current budget cycle. In FY26, Congress granted the Army permission to consolidate 13 budget lines related to electronic warfare, counter unmanned aerial systems, and drone programs.

The consolidation strategy reflects the Army's effort to streamline acquisition processes and improve flexibility in allocating resources across related capabilities. By combining related budget lines, the service aims to reduce bureaucratic overhead and accelerate the development and fielding of integrated C2 systems that are increasingly critical for modern warfare.
