A coalition of 24 states, alongside a dozen cities and counties, has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over its decision to revoke the 2009 endangerment finding. The lawsuit was filed in the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia on Thursday, led by Massachusetts, California, New York and Connecticut.

The endangerment finding is the scientific determination that greenhouse gases threaten public health and welfare, serving as the foundation for virtually all US climate regulations. The EPA rescinded this finding in February, with the White House describing the action as the "single largest deregulatory action in US history."
