Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) has filed a 25-page federal lawsuit against consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, accusing the company of failing to protect confidential taxpayer information. The suit stems from tax return leaks by Charles Littlejohn, a contractor who performed IRS work through Booz Allen and was sentenced to five years in prison in 2023 for unauthorized disclosure.
Littlejohn's leaks were connected to major media reports, including a 2020 New York Times story on Trump's tax payments and a 2021 ProPublica investigation featuring tax documents from Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Michael Bloomberg. The Trump administration has already retaliated against Booz Allen by canceling all Treasury Department contracts with the firm in January.
