The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is facing heightened cybersecurity risks due to the ongoing government shutdown, according to CISA's acting chief. The agency's reduced operational capacity is limiting its ability to provide comprehensive cybersecurity protections across critical infrastructure sectors.
During the shutdown, CISA is operating with skeletal staffing and can only focus on essential functions. According to the acting chief, these include responding to imminent threats, protecting life and property, sharing critical vulnerability and incident information, and maintaining the agency's 24/7 operational center.
