The House Ethics Committee announced Monday it has launched an investigation into Representative Eric Swalwell. The probe will examine whether the California Democrat engaged in sexual misconduct, including toward an employee under his supervision. Swalwell denies the allegations.
The investigation follows multiple accusations from women that prompted the lawmaker to suspend his California gubernatorial campaign on Sunday. Several House members have since called for his resignation or expulsion from Congress.
