Vice President Vance said Wednesday that Israel has proposed to restrain its strikes in Lebanon during ongoing U.S.-Iran ceasefire negotiations. The statement comes after renewed Israeli military attacks in Lebanon killed at least 254 people, according to Lebanese Civil Defense, and prompted Iran to threaten withdrawal from talks scheduled for Saturday.
The Israeli strikes against Hezbollah, Tehran's proxy in Lebanon, have emerged as a key sticking point in the diplomatic process. Iran had demanded that stopping Israeli attacks on Lebanon be included in any ceasefire agreement, while the U.S. maintains the current ceasefire framework only covers direct Iran-U.S. ally conflicts.
